Firefighter

Respond to wildland fires and assist in fire suppression efforts
- Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and tools
- Conduct fire line construction and control line operations
- Perform mop-up operations to ensure fires are completely extinguished
- Assist in prescribed burning activities to reduce fuel loads and mitigate fire risks
- Participate in training exercises and drills to maintain readiness
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to established firefighting procedures

**Experience**:

- Previous experience as a wildland firefighter is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of fire behavior, fire suppression techniques, and incident command systems is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in high-stress situations
- Physical fitness and endurance to perform strenuous tasks in challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and follow instructions

**Skills**:

- System design: Ability to assess fire behavior, topography, weather conditions, and fuel types to develop effective strategies for fire containment and control.
- Construction inspection: Knowledge of construction techniques and materials used in building fire lines, control lines, and other structures related to fire suppression efforts.
- Build: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery for constructing fire lines, clearing vegetation, and creating fire breaks.

Please note that this position may require extended periods away from home, working long hours under physically demanding conditions. Applicants must be willing to travel and work in remote locations.

Contract length: 3-5 months

Pay: $250.00-$500.00 per day

Expected hours: 60 per week
