**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the LAS Board of Directors_,_ the General Manageris responsible for executing the strategic vision for the Lindsay Agricultural Society as set by the Board. Operational responsibilities include the daily planning, management and leadership of the Lindsay Agricultural Society, including revenue, expenses, personnel, rentals, the LEX, the physical property, and all related financial reporting and various other duties assigned by the President.

**Responsibilities**
- Participate in the strategic planning process of the LAS Board of Directors. Execute the resulting strategic plan.
- Recruit,manage and maintain a qualified, friendly, and professional staff using LAS personnel procedures for hiring, training, scheduling, development,and management of all employees to comply with the payroll budget, business needs, and all employment legislation.
- Manage workflow and assignments to all staff positions.
- Oversee the delivery of quality guest service, by engaging and demonstrating a positive and friendly interaction with guests, volunteers and team members throughout all areas of the LEX ground.
- Work with the LEX planning committees to coordinate and execute the annual agricultural fair.
- Prepare, manage and report on an annual budget _(expense and capital_), cashflow forecast, and business plan. This includes a separate budget for the annual agricultural fair (LEX).
- Create and manage a capital replacement budget.
- Manage the monthly board reporting and meeting cycle to ensure the board is adequately informed of relevant matters and has the appropriate information to make decisions in a timely manner.
- Ensure the physical property, buildings, and equipment are properly maintained to legislated building codes and safety standards.
- Manage any LAS driven events.
- The GM will be required to attend Executive meetings, board meetings and some committee meetings in the evenings along with extra hours prior to and during the fair and other LAS events.
- Design, expand and manage facility rental opportunities that the community is able to access and increase the profile of the LAS, while enabling LAS to maximize revenue generation opportunities. Ensure all contracts are completed and in place.
- Monitor the compliance of staff and guests to all facility policies, programs and procedures, and provincially legislated Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Seek applicablegrant opportunities, write proposals, and remain in compliance with the terms and conditions of grants to ensure the LAS receives all monies awarded.
- Working with the staff Volunteer coordinator, the GM is responsible for maintaining a mutual respect and appreciation for all volunteers....providing a safe environment in which to do their work.
- Social media, Website Design and Management as well as Marketing and Advertising for events.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Job Qualifications**
- Degree/Diploma in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years in progressively responsible management positions.
- Past experience or understanding of working under a volunteer Board of Directors governance model is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience working in a not-for-profit environment with committees of volunteers.
- Previous experience working with an Agricultural Society would be an asset but is not mandatory.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience developing a marketing plan_,_ promoting sales and business development.
- Project management experience in planning, preparation, promotion, and execution of multiple events.
- Excellent employee and customer relations skills and the demonstrated ability to manage confrontation and resolve conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully hire, train, develop_,_ and manage employees.
- Able to lead and serve as a role model.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with strong decision-making ability.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills coupled with strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to create, read, present and manage multiple budgets.
- Basic facilities management knowledge_, _including knowledge of established building codes and safety requirements for public facilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all Workplace Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current Police Check or willingness to sign Declaration that there are no known convictions.

**Work Hours**

This is a Full-Time position**. **Flexibility in work scheduled hours is required_. _Evening, weekend, and holiday hours will be required based on the scheduled meetings and activities at the LAS Grounds and during the Lindsay Exhibition.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
