**Responsibilities**:
Embrace a student-centered, strength-based approach, focusing on the holistic needs of the family and child.
Actively engage parents as partners in planning and decision-making
Adapt service delivery flexibly to meet the diverse and evolving needs of staff and students.
Offer supports and services to foster inclusion and well-being in communication skills, social language, literacy, and augmentative communication.
Facilitate engagement and participation in learning by minimizing barriers.
Collaborate with teachers to provide universal, targeted, and individualized support for students with language and communication delays.
Work closely with a transdisciplinary team and consultants to assess student needs and develop tailored interventions, supports, and program plans for students with complex communication needs.
Assist classroom teachers and families in implementing alternative augmentative communication options both in the classroom and at home.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure effective implementation of communication strategies and interventions.
Conduct assessments to identify strengths and areas for growth, utilizing a variety of assessment tools and methods.
Maintain accurate digital records of student progress, assessments, and interventions.
Stay updated on best practices, research, and trends in speech-language pathology in educational settings.
Lead and supervise therapy assistant(s), providing guidance, support, and direction in implementing therapy plans and interventions.

Qualifications and Experience
Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent from a recognized school of Speech & Language Pathology.
Eligible for membership with ACSLPA (Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists) and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC).
Experience working with augmentative communication, assessment and intervention is preferred.
Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle is required, as daily travel within the school division is necessary.
Knowledge and understanding of emergent literacy and numeracy is not required but considered an asset.
The Sturgeon Public School Division offers a competitive annual wage between $76,000 and $98,000 and a comprehensive benefits package. This position will work 37.5 hours per week.
