**Position Summary**:
**Major responsibilities include**:

- Creates and maintains educational content for Canplas products.
- Present and conduct technical training seminars for engineers, OEMs, distributors, contractors, and internal staff. Trains sales staff to continuously advance the technical sales capabilities of the team.
- Represents the industry, and specifically the business interests of Canplas, on codes and standards committees. Acts as channel of communication for the innovation and commercial teams regarding changes to regulatory environment.
- Collaborates with innovation and sales to gather market opportunity insight for innovation projects and strategic planning initiatives
- Provides input on the requirements of technical documentation for engineers and other technical stakeholders.
- Actively participates on new product development project teams providing technical insight and support.
- Collaborates with sales and innovation to influence the development of codes and standards for the benefit of Canplas products.
- Collaborates with sales to help technical opportunities advance through sales funnel

**Qualifications**:

- B. Eng or B. Sc required. P. Eng with a degree in mechanical or civil engineering is an asset. Experience with construction building products and/or plastics is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years’ successful experience in technical sales, innovation or customer facing technical role preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate technical information in clear and simple terms.
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
- In-depth understanding of stakeholders in the built environment.
- Working knowledge of building and plumbing code, and associated standards.
- Customer needs focused, ability to translate requirements to proposed solutions and sell effectively.
- Ability to lead and motivate others for mutual success.
- Capable problem solver and able to navigate adversarial situations.
- Collaborates effectively with other departments within the company.
- Strong work ethic and desire to achieve goals and results.
- Influential communication and diplomacy skills.

**Working Conditions**:

- Employee will occasionally be required to wear protective eyewear, hearing protection, safety shoes, hard hat, and/or other safety equipment if visiting a job site or a manufacturing plant where such PPE is required.
- When not travelling, employee will be based out of home office or Canplas Office in Barrie. This is a hybrid role with office days on Tuesday and Wednesday weekly. Employee is expected to work during core hours 8:30am - 5:00pm

**Travel**:

- Employee will be based out of Canplas Head office in Barrie, with the ability to work from home as is appropriate (determined by employee/manager)
- Employee will be required to travel up to 50% of the time primarily in Canada with limited US travel (valid passport and driver’s license is required).
- Employee may need to occasionally visit other company locations.
