**Dam Specialist**

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated **Dam Specialist** to join our global Hydropower and Dams team to provide technical leadership as well as client engagement and business development with key clients.

This specialist Dam Engineer will have significant global experience associated with new dam design and construction as well as experience in leading dam feasibility studies and related projects including dam safety reviews, site investigations, condition assessments, engineering design, rehabilitation of existing facilities, and commissioning.

The Engineer will be part of a global engineering team and will be part of a core team providing technical leadership for all water retaining structures.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Working in a fast-paced, dynamic team with other engineers in a multidisciplinary environment
- Structural Analysis and Design of Large Dams
- Dam Rehabilitation Related Design and Analysis
- Stability analyses of dams and other related structures
- Providing leadership on Dam related assignments
- Providing Quality Assurance and Mentorship to a global team
- Leading and managing the process of engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget, and procedures to ensure successful project completion
- Managing the design teams of junior structural engineers and designers, for successful completion of the project(s), while ensuring a continuous career development of staff
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities
- Maintaining structural engineering work procedures and computer aided design programs
- Preparing and contributing to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise

**Qualifications and Experience Requirements**:

- A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
- A post-graduate in structural engineering will be considered an asset
- More than 20 years of diverse experience with large water retaining structures
- Significant experience in the planning, design, and construction supervision of medium to large scale Reinforced Concrete (RCC) and Concrete Faced Rockfill (CFR) dams
- Must have experience in detailed design of RCC and CFR dams, including preparation of design criteria, knowledge of applicable design standards and codes, performing the structural stability analyses and preparation of detailed construction drawings and technical specifications
- Comprehensive analysis and design experience including finite element analysis of concrete membrane of CFR dams, using software programs such as STAAD, SAP2000 & ANSYS, including assessments associated with deformations
- Experience in the construction supervision and monitoring the quality of the RCC and conventional concrete produced, placed, and compacted for the construction of the RCC and CFR dams
- Solid experience in the preparation of reports and specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skill, interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Strong client focus and a desire to achieve results including the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines
- Willingness for international travel
