Reporting to the Director of Care, you will co-ordinate services for our residents, ensuring quality resident care and compliance with physicians' orders as well as corporate and government policies. In addition, this position assists with supervising nursing services, monitoring infections, liaising with Public Health, auditing of nursing processes and other duties as assigned.

**Duties of this position include**:

- Contributing to the development, co-ordination, implementation and effective operation of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Program providing a clinical leadership role to the homes IPAC program and employing knowledge of best practices along with critical appraisal of current research to develop, evaluate and manage surveillance. Provide education and oversee quality improvement projects within the IPAC program. Support to advance innovation and creativity within the IPAC program including. teaching and reinforcement of infection control best practice policies and procedures to all levels of health care providers Consult with hospital departments and committees on matters related to infection prevention and control and resident care.
- Contribute to the development and support of, and adheres to Caressant Care philosophy, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Actively participate on the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and other committees as assigned.
- Provide education to staff, students and volunteers in all disciplines proactively and as requested.
Surveillance, outbreak management and other routine activities within the IPAC team.
- Maintain active involvement in construction design and activities by recommending environmental controls to reduce the risk of construction related nosocomial infections. Performs periodic inspections on construction activities to ensure compliance with Hospital policies and procedures.
- Oversee various clinical program as determined by the Director of Care/ resident needs.
- Complete various clinical reports/compile statistical data as directed, conduct audits of IPAC practices and clinical programs.
- All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and others by ensuring that health and safety policies are followed.
- Other duties as assigned based on emerging and changing organizational and program priorities.

***SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED**:

- Current Ontario Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse Certificate of Competence.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in geriatrics and Infection Prevention and Control in a health care setting.
- Completion of an IPAC Canada endorsed Infection Prevention and Control post-secondary course or equivalent.
- Certificate in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) required.
- Demonstrated leadership, teaching, critical thinking and administrative ability.
- Working knowledge of the Compliance Management Program and Quality Improvement tools and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and computer skills).
- Familiar with regulations pertaining to WHMIS and able to successfully complete the WHMIS test.
- Proof of full vaccination mandatory

This is a full-time permanent position. Wage to commensurate with experience.
