Looking for a locum to cover for a full time Family Physician going on an urgent medical leave.

The family medicine practice is just outside of Richmond, BC in Ladner, BC (about a 25 minute drive from UBC unless it’s rush hour - then it’s closer to 45 minutes). It’s a semi-rural, small town feel community close to Tsawwassen.

Includes a large corner office and 3 exam rooms (2 adult’s rooms and 1 kid’s room) that are not shared with the other docs in the practice (except on Wednesday mornings it is shared with a semi-retired doc who does marine and aviation medicals).

3 other supportive family docs are in the clinic and the staff is experienced, professional, and fun to work with.

The locum will share an MOA with one of the other Family Physicians and she is phenomenal.

The EMR is Med-Access.

Something previous locums have given in their feedback is that the patients are very nice and respectful; very “salt-of-the-earth” type people. Many of them are from farming or fishing families. The practice is geriatric focussed but childhood vaccines are done regularly and some of the younger female patients are starting their families now.

Lots of opportunities for skin biopsies. IUD insertions and endometrial biopsies can be done if there is a special interest as the clinic is equipped to accommodate these procedures.

The Family doc was working full days in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with telephone calls on Wednesday afternoons (usually from home) as the MOA does not work on Wednesdays. Fridays were taken off to catch up on paperwork and do telephone visits from home as needed. The MOA is there Monday-Friday except for Wednesdays so the locum could arrange their schedule with hers if they’d want to have different work hours. There is lots of scheduling flexibility.

Overhead is only 25% which is another perk of this practice. Work is guaranteed as the patient panel is almost 1000 patients.

If the locum needed to be a longer term locum, it could be arranged for chronic and complex care fee codes to be billed by the locum to be compensated for their work.
