Surveyor Assistant

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to grow your career in the field of surveying and heavy construction? Look no further Delta North Geomatics Inc, a leading surveying company in Western Canada, is currently expanding our team in Ontario and looking for Surveyor Assistants to join us.

As a Surveyor Assistant, you will be working on-site and under the guidance of our experienced managers and supervisors to complete projects in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Our current project is the Finch West LRT and we are looking for local support for our team.

Responsibilities include: -Assisting with the completion of field surveys -Operating survey equipment with supervision -Performing detailed map/plan interpretation -Completing survey note keeping, data submission, and survey sketches -Cleaning and maintaining survey equipment, tools, and vehicles -Keeping the crew chief and supervisor informed as to progress and problems -Performing all field employee health and safety duties as identified in the company’s HSE program

To be considered for this role, you should be physically fit, able to lift heavy equipment, willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours. A valid Class 5/Class G driver’s license is required. Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge are also required. Preference will be given to applicants with a two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or civil engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The shift for this position is 5 days on, 2 days off, and 10 hours per day typical. The location is immediately hiring for the GTA (Finch West LRT).
