As part of our dynamic team, you'll dive into the exciting world of assessing customers' fitness goals and crafting customized personal training and conditioning programs within our state-of-the-art recreation facility.

Picture yourself providing expert guidance and motivation as you supervise and instruct customers on a diverse array of weight and cardio equipment. Your keen eye for safety ensures everyone's experience is both exhilarating and injury-free. But that's not all - you'll also evaluate fitness levels and abilities, offering personalized support to individuals on their weight training and fitness journeys.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by a diploma or certification program in community recreation, leadership and/or sports science, and sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Sound knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of individual weight training and fitness programs and of the various types of weight training equipment.
- Sound knowledge of current personal training industry standards and methods of practice.
- Sound knowledge of applicable policies, regulations and rules governing the work performed.
- Working knowledge of the principals of anatomy and physiology as it applies to the work performed.
- Ability to oversee weight room and recreational gym operations when leading an individual or group training session.
- Working knowledge of fitness equipment machines and ability to do assessment and minor repairs.
- Ability to evaluate individual’s fitness levels, develop individual weight training and fitness programs, and provide advice and guidance relative to health and fitness matters.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and deal tactfully and diplomatically with a variety of customers.
- Ability to prepare and maintain correspondence, records and reports.
- Ability to present ideas and view points effectively both orally and in writing.
- Skill in the operation of a variety of equipment used in programs for health, wellness and fitness facilities.

**LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES**
- BC Recreation and Park Association Basic Fitness Leaders - Weight Training (_equivalent_ _or_ _higher _certification(s) are acceptable_).
- BC Recreation and Park Association Personal Trainer Certification (_equivalent or higher certification(s) _are acceptable_).
- Standard First Aid Certificate.
- CPR/AED Certification.
- Police Record Check.

**HOURS OF WORK**
This is an auxiliary position with no ongoing schedule of hours.
