Reporting to the Assistant to the Operations Manager, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for the proactive, day-to-day delivery of Siltech’s health and safety program and aids in the identification and elimination/mitigation of potential safety hazards.

Essential Job Functions
- Ensures compliance with all municipal, provincial, and federal health and safety regulations
- Assists with delivery of company safety standards and programs
- Assesses health and environment safety risks and hazards
- Provides or arranges safety education and training to employees
- Carries out site safety inspections and audits
- Conducts or assists with incident investigations
- Identifies and provides solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards
- Evaluates PPE suitability
- Champions behaviour observation and interaction
- Coaches employees on health and safety best practices
- Participates on plant Joint Health & Safety Committees
- Suggests and implements new health and safety protocols and measures to ensure compliance with changing regulations
- Participates in process safety and operational reviews of new products and process modification
- Monitors operational processes and employee activities for safety leading indicators
- Generates assessment documentation, incident and accident reports, and health and safety goal updates and progress reports
- Prepares regulatory agency reports
- Keeps abreast of the latest Health and Safety trends, policies, regulations, and best practices
- Able to travel between Siltech facilities in the GTA on a daily basis

Required Knowledge
- OHSA, WSIB and other federal, provincial and municipal health and safety regulations
- Occupational and emergency safety procedures
- Familiarity with environmental safety standards
- Familiarity with Employment Standards Act

Experience
- Bachelors, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Ontario; Industrial Hygiene or other safety-related accreditation
- 5 years of Plant experience required, preferably in a Chemical Plant
- Knowledge of Chemical Batch Operations is an asset
