**Project Metallurgist**

ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director, Metallurgy and Process Engineering, the Project
Metallurgist is responsible for coordinating technical engineering activities
performed by consultants and 3rd party engineering contractors on behalf
of NexGen. The Project Metallurgist will work collaboratively with the
NexGen and EPCM team to ensure technical excellence is achieved.
The Project Metallurgist will functionally report to NexGen Engineering for
functions of their work that pertain to the Rook I Project.
The Project Metallurgist will oversee and guide the development of process
engineering deliverables ensuring they meet the project’s scope and are
delivered on schedule and budget. Such engineering deliverables included
process plants, effluent treatment plants, acid plants, metallurgical and
analytical laboratories, and related surface infrastructure.
The Project Metallurgist will coordinate in-house metallurgical test work
performed by 3rd party laboratories and consultants to inform decisions of
engineering design, fulfill requirements of environmental risk assessment
and licensing.
The role requires the Project Metallurgist to develop solutions in areas of
the above engineering deliverables across various systems, unit operations,
and process equipment. In addition, the Project Metallurgist will liaise with
other discipline leads to ensure the process intent of the plant is maintained
throughout the design life.

Provide support to, and work collaboratively with other technical / business
units on developing a thorough understanding of the project requirements and
roadmaps related to scope, cost, and schedule.
Participate in EPCM and vendor engineering activities, including technical
reviews of drawings and documents (i.e., PFD and P&ID).
Coordinate EPCM engineering activities of process plant, effluent treatment
plant, acid plant, metallurgical and analytical laboratories, and related surface
infrastructure.
Participate and contribute as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform
engineering studies, trade-off studies, and cost analyses.
Support the continual development of paste tailings recipes and related
environmental monitoring programs.
Ensure that licensing, EA, and all other permitting requirements are
appropriately integrated into the engineering workflows, collaborating with
the EA/Licensing teams where required.
Work collaboratively with the project leadership team to incorporate
operational readiness consideration into the design and engineering
deliverables.
Participate in necessary engineering and design workshops (i.e., HAZOPs,
HAZIDs, etc.) throughout the project phase.
Manage NexGen consultant activity including cost and schedule controls.
Coordinate and guides the development of process engineering deliverables
and tasks including test work, design basis, design criteria, mass and energy
balance, capacity studies, trade-off studies, engineering and equipment
calculations, piping and instrumentations diagrams, process control logic, and
operating and capital cost estimates.
