In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, primarily operates, services, installs, alters and repairs electrical building systems and non medical electrical equipment at the electrical journeyman level as well as supervises designated electricians, refrigeration tradesman and maintenance workers in conformance with accepted codes, regulations and established policies and procedures.

**What you’ll do**
- Liaises with Electrical Supervisor as required and receives direction concerning electrical maintenance and building systems operational strategies as dictated by the daily needs of the Hospital user groups in the provision of patient care.
- Supervises daily work activities of designated, electrical and refrigeration tradesmen and maintenance workers by scheduling, co-ordinating work assignments and evaluating completed work, to ensure conformance with current regulatory codes, WCB regulations and established Hospital standards. Evaluates employee performance and determine training and orientation requirements.
- Performs electrical service, installations, alterations and repair work on electrical building systems including but limited to the 120/208v and 600v electrical distribution system equipment, emergency power distribution system equipment, general lighting system, fire alarm system, nurse call/code blue systems, security system, intercom system, master clock system and mechanical building systems equipment such as air handling units, air conditioning units, air compressors and electric motors.
- Performs electrical service, installations, alterations and repair work on medical (non biomedical related) and non medical electrical equipment including but not limited to medical air pumps, medical vacuum pumps, surgical lights, blanket warmers, emergency battery operated lights, sterilizers, washers, dryers, kitchen equipment, laboratory equipment, electronic equipment, and appliances.
- Ensures that site electrical work conforms to the latest versions of the B.C. Electrical Code, CSA, ULC Electrical standards, City of Vancouver Electrical bylaws and the Hospital’s electrical standards.
- Oversees preventive maintenance work for equipment and building systems specific to electrical, refrigeration and sheet-metal trades.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools; evaluates/recommends purchase of related equipment and supplies. Requisitions supplies and equipment using the Hospitals requisitioning system.
- Provides information to the drafting office for any electrical distribution system alteration or modification performed by the assigned area for the purpose of updating the site record drawings.
- Performs journeyman work as an Electrician when required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 10, plus four years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeymen Electrician recognized by the Province of B.C.
