**AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY**:
Reporting to the Manager, Development Construction, this position is responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure assumed by the municipality meets City, engineering and legislative standards and protects public safety.
- Facilitates the orderly and effective construction of subdivisions. Oversees the construction activities of developments and issues final acceptances, including assumption recommendations. Resolves escalated concerns with consultants, developers, builders, and residents regarding engineering or lot grading matters. Review and provides comments on the implementation of any aspects of engineering drawings and erosion and sediment control plans. Administers all letter of credit security reductions.
- Provides engineering expertise. Ensures that development projects are constructed as approved on the engineering drawings. Ensures staff training and construction safety courses are kept current as per required legislation. Provides expertise in technical matters.
- Supervises development inspectors and lot grading technicians. Provides day-to-day guidance and technical leadership to inspectors. Distributes and assesses workload. Conducts performance evaluations and recommends training, development and suggests improvements, due to emerging technologies. Provides input to divisional budgeting process and maintains sectional statistical information.
- Represent Division on Committees to establish standards and criteria for all developments in the City. Represent the Division on other committees and teams, meeting with external agencies, developers and landowners to provide advice relating to construction activities within developing

**EDUCATION**:

- Diploma in Civil Engineering

**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE**:

- 3-5 years relative public sector engineering/development construction experience with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience

**OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS**:

- Ability to acquire a Limited Licence with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English.
- Conflict management and influence skills.
