ITR Laboratories Canada has been servicing the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries for over 30 years and has established itself as a trusted partner worldwide in Drug Safety Testing. We are actively seeking an **Animal Care Committee (ACC) Coordinator** to join our team. Reporting to the ACC Chairperson, the successful incumbent will be responsible for actively coordinating ITR-ACC activities, meetings, communications and training with various internal and external services and agencies.

**Key responsibilities are to**:

- Contribute as a member of the animal care committee (ACC), enrichment subcommittee (ESC), health and safety committee (HSC) and any other relevant subcommittees created.
- Organize monthly ACC meetings, record and distribute ACC meeting minutes to appropriate personnel and act as liaison with ACC community member.
- Coordinate the pre-screening, circulation, revision and approval of study plan templates, study plans and relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) with Study Directors and other scientific representatives.
- Receive any authorization forms, ensure documents amendments and renewals with external agencies.
- Oversee and document animal welfare and ethics training of ACC members, participate in new employees and coordinate continuing education of personnel working at ITR laboratories.
- Complete annual internal facilities/system audits in coordination with other services.
- In conjunction with the Compliance Manager, identify any compliance issues as defined by the Canadian, American and international standards for research involving animals, to ensure full compliance.
- Manage and follow up on the ITR whistle-blower policy reports/concerns. Report unresolved issues to ACC chair.
- Monitor and maintain the ITR ACC policies and procedures to ensure congruence with current industry expectations, practices and developments by:

- Assisting the ACC Chair and members of the ACC in the implementation of new policies/procedures as updated by the Canadian Council on Animal Welfare (CCAC), and updating relevant documentation and processes.
- Keep the ACC informed of any new developments in the national animal care policies or any new guidance documents issued by international animal care accreditation bodies.
- Coordinate and prepare for audits/assessments by external agencies including but not limited to the CCAC and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC).

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Life Science (Health, Animal, or relevant field)
- Typically, at least 3 years of experience in a GLP environment (or equivalent)
- Combination of relevant scientific and technical experience of relevance to toxicology.
- Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal is a must.
- Good communication skills in French.
- Able to present ideas in concise and compelling manner.
- Has good initiative and good judgment
- Able to work collaboratively in teams or independently.
- Excellent ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines.
