**Position Summary**

The Early Childhood Educator (ECE), as part of a team of ECEs and Child Care Assistants, is responsible for delivering impact-specific, age appropriate programming to all the children in the program, using a current understanding of child development principles. The ECE assesses each child’s needs and plans and provides programming that promotes positive social, physical, emotional and cognitive development. The ECE fosters a clean and safe environment that encourages healthy interaction and learning.

**Qualifications**

**Education**
- ECE II or ECE III Classification from the Manitoba Child Care Program
- Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certificate

**Skills, Expertise and Experience**
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with/caring for children in a child care facility
- Demonstrated understanding of child development theory and principles and ability to put that understanding into practice
- Experience supervising and engaging children throughout the day, during transition, individual and group activities and free and structured play
- Ability to use a range of child development approaches, skills and techniques to optimize each child’s experience and opportunity to leave and develop
- Experience taking active steps to identify and manage risks to ensure the safety of all children
- Experience managing behavioral issues in accordance with established policies and practices
- Experience documenting relevant information regarding children and families and record program information in accordance with applicable standards and policies
