**Salary**: $65,000 (Ontario) annually or $90,000 (Nunavut)

**The Development Department**

The Development Department is responsible for the long-term viability of the organization by evaluating the impact of our current initiatives and generating revenue for operations. Wholistic Growth and Partnership leads Pinnguaq’s fund development and partnership strategies and is also responsible for fostering a culture of data-driven evaluation touching on all aspects of the Pinnguaq lifecycle (Education, Resources, Mentorship, Employment, Production, Advocacy).

**What Does Success as a Grant Writer Look Like?**

You are an expert in identifying, qualifying and producing funding proposals in response to multiple opportunities that align with Pinnguaq strategic priorities, mission, vision and values.

You have helped open up new avenues of support (through donations, funding or partnerships) to grow Pinnguaq life cycle initiatives and financial sustainability.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Thoroughly review, understand and communicate grant and proposal requirements to develop submission in line with Funder needs
- Coordinate pre and post grant resources including scheduling strategy meetings, preparatory information, registering for info sessions or bidders conferences, follow-up on grant status, recognition requirements, etc.,
- Follow process to manage timelines and projects from the start and throughout the solicitation cycle to coordinate requirements with contributors, stakeholders and support amendments, updates and touchpoints.
- Gather proposal information by identifying sources of information, reviewing historical resources, sector research, crafting new information, while also identifying and communicating challenges/risks associated with submission.
- Write, revise, or create responses for: need for support, project relevance/value, project objectives/key deliverables, implementation schedule, delivery methods, staffing capacity, standards of performance, evaluation and measurable outcomes.
- Develop multi-year project budget breakdowns, recognizing eligible and non eligible costs, partner cash/in-kind contributions and cross referencing other project contributions
- Maintain quality results by using templates, following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone
- Assist in maintaining/creating development tools - templates, graphics, analysis reports etc.
- Assess needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition

**Attributes and Qualifications**
- A successful Grant Writer will be a strong problem-solver and be detail-oriented with above-average organizational and verbal and written communication skills. Strong project management skills are also essential as is initiative and the ability to work under pressure.
- Bachelor’s degree and knowledge of development principles and practices, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three (3) of related and recent experience
- Strategic thinker with the ability to take concepts and turn them into tangible deliverables
- Calm, cool personality able to deal with the pressure of multiple timelines and priorities
- Amiable personality and positive outlook to work with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong writing skills and proven experience in grant writing is required
- Work as a collaborative and flexible team player in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Experience in collaborative community engagement and stakeholder relations
- Excellent decision making and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently. This is a hybrid position with in-office expectations
- Experience within rural, remote and Indigenous communities in Canada is an asset.
- Fundraising experience within a not for profit, charity or social enterprise setting is an asset
- Experience in S.T.E.A.M is an asset.
- Ability to speak and write in English, French and/or Inuktitut is an asset.
