Pay Band Six (6-MV1) - $28.52 to $31.69/ hour

The purpose of the Deaf/Blind Intervenor position is to assist with the delivery of academic, social, physical, emotional, and behavioural programs for an individual student who is deaf and/or blind. This position reports to the School Principal.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Implements an individualized program to establish language concept development, providing one-on-one support as eyes and ears for students and acting as translator, facilitator, and interpreter, utilizing the total communication approach.
Provides activities/strategies for stimulate residual hearing and vision addressing sensory integration and changes in functional levels, introducing a variety of sensory stimulants and providing training in the same.
Conducts Life Skills outings.
Provides resource services to school and Board staff on issues relates to the needs of a deaf/blind student.
May provide input towards the student’s IEP and report card attending team meetings, charting progress, and maintaining effective communication with professionals involved, as well as family.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the school principal and teacher.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Two (2) year college diploma in related field
Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience
Advanced American Sign Language and Braille
