- JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus includes the state-of-art Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, featuring a new Emergency Department, 172 acute inpatient beds, 9 new Operating Rooms and post-anaesthetic care unit to support expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services. JBH is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.- RESPONSIBILITIES:

- The Supervisor provides leadership and support on a daily basis to a staff of qualified tradespeople in order to maintain buildings, site and all building services to ensure maximum efficiency while performing daily maintenance and repairs, preventive maintenance, routine operational checks and inspections, minor renovations, and safety inspections throughout Hospital buildings and grounds in a cost effective manner. This position includes overseeing work assignments, prioritizing tasks, organization of labour and materials and working directly with skilled trades and contractors.
- The incumbent ensures general compliance and that all work is completed in accordance with Ontario Building, Fire and Plumbing codes, CSA and TSSA Standards and all other applicable regulations, standards and codes to the highest level of workmanship and infection prevention and control standards.
- This position is expected to be available during off hours, for phone calls and call backs as required, and is included in the Facilities on call schedule. Incumbent also acts as a "super user" departmental trainer.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid Certificate of Qualification (Ontario License) Millwright or C of Q in another Mechanical trade or Community college graduate (minimum 2 year program) in a relevant technical discipline.
- Certification as a Gas Technician G1/G2 or 2nd/3rd class Operating Engineer would be an asset
- Additional Certificate of Qualification in a related field is an advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years experience working in a Facilities maintenance department in a Hospital
- Ability to deal with competing priorities and deadlines and highly developed time management skills.
- Advanced knowledge of complex building systems and automated controls.
- Advanced knowledge of Building automation systems (BAS) and Computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Experience working with Life Safety systems would be an asset.
- Excellent record keeping, computer, communication and training skills
- Advanced knowledge of all applicable codes, standards and guidelines.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Availability to work off hours including call backs and phone calls as required.
