**Position Overview**

The Transportation supervisor, under the direction of the Manager, Transportation, will primarily be responsible for supporting the Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the transportation department. Ensures client transportation needs are met by creating and managing the weekly driving schedule, ensures the continued maintenance management of Larga’s vehicle fleet and supports the Manager by ensuring staff are meeting the performance expectations of the department.

The Transportation Supervisor will also be required to fulfill transportation needs during periods of high volume or in urgent situations.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Dispatch Activities**
- Supports the Manager in coordinating the weekly work schedules of all Drivers, including all vacation and sick leave tracking
- Supports the Manager with coordinating day
- to
- day driving operations; reviews and completes the necessary documentation
- Works closely with other departments in order to create and maintain the weekly driving schedule; communicates effectively with staff from all departments and outside organizations
- Provides continuous updates to the Client Care Coordinators on changes to the driving schedule i.e. missed or changed appointments, unexpected arrivals etc.
- Assists Drivers with routing directions and communicating special service requirements
- Acts as back-up Driver as needed; performs driving duties in a safe, efficient and on-time manner according to Larga’s standards
- Manages and maintains daily trip sheet of arrivals, departures and appointments
- Coordinates Driver assignments to maximize efficiency and vehicle coverage throughout the city
- Maintains an up-to-date record of our clients’ status
- Complies with traffic regulations in order to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
- Follows all safe driving rules and regulations
- Maintains a clean driving record

**Fleet Management**
- Supports the Manager in ensuring ongoing maintenance of all Larga Baffin fleet vehicles
- Inspect vehicle safety equipment monthly
- Conducts minor vehicle repairs including replacing light bulbs, seat belts, and wipers in a timely manner
- Ensures the detailing of all vehicles is completed
- Tracks and maintains records of all parts on warranty
- Coordinates and supports tire maintenance and replacement schedule
- Maintains vehicle maintenance logs and records and proper vehicle documentation
- Tracks and records all vehicle damage

**Management of Staff**
- Assists with the hiring and selection of staff
- Provides support to the Manager, Transportation and Facilities Services in developing and maintaining department training and/or procedure manuals
- Provides training to Drivers in several areas to ensure standards are being met
- Supervises staff work load, schedules and assigned tasks
- Conducts performance reviews
- Supports the Manger with escalated staff issues or concerns i.e. absenteeism, lateness, poor performance, scheduling conflicts etc.
- Ensures staff are compliant with Larga Baffin’s Health and Safety standards

**Minimum Job Requirements**

Some college/cegep/vocational or technical training
- Two (2) to three (3) years supervisory experience in a similar role
- One (1) to two (2) years fleet management and dispatch experience
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- “F” Class Ontario driver’s licence in good standing with acceptable letters of insurance experience showing 3 plus years commercial experience carrying passengers
- Driver’s abstract from MTO in good standing
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull and move equipment and/or suitcases up to 75 lbs
- Must be available for on-call work to respond to off-hours emergencies

**Knowledge and Skills**
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of routing and local areas/streets
- Strong knowledge of MS Office software (Work, Excel, Outlook etc.)
- Able to multi-task and prioritize
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Strong customer service skills and/or experience demonstrating professionalism, tact and diplomacy when interacting with clients, visitors and staff
- Ability to make sound decisions independently
- WHIMIS certified (or willingness to learn)

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Beneficiary status with the ability to speak Inuktitut
