The Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education, with approximately 22,000 students and 3,000 employees, is seeking a Food Service Facilitator.

Reporting to the Regional Coordinator of Programs, the food service facilitator supports a coordinated approach to improving school food environments, specifically with respect to cafeterias. This position provides a single point of contact for third party food service managers, cafeteria staff and school administrators for cafeteria related inquiries, and works closely with key Health Promoting Schools (HPS) partners (i.e. School Health Promoter, Public Health Nutritionist). The food service facilitator’s primary role is to work collaboratively with third party food service providers and partners to enhance compliance with the School Food and Nutrition Policy (SFNP) and provide leadership on implementing efficient and sustainable operational practices across the region.

**Main responsibilities include**:

- Ensure school food programs operating through school cafeterias align with the SFNP and CCRCE food and menu standards
- Work with HPS partners and third-party providers to establish standard operating procedures related to school cafeterias. This includes procedures that will reduce inefficiencies, enhance safety and nutrition, and also address inequities with respect to supporting students without lunch.
- Work with HPS partners to establish cafeteria menus which adhere to the nutrition and affordability standards of the SFNP and also aim to achieve sustainable, efficient operations.
- Work with third party providers to implement standard menus and operating procedures across the RCE, providing one-on-one support for food service workers in school cafeterias as needed.
- Engage in monitoring activities, such as audits of cafeteria operations for compliance with established menus and operating procedures.
- Support hiring and onboarding of food service workers as needed (independently operated school cafeterias).

**Requirements**:

- Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, Business Administration, or other relevant field with related experience; and/or,
- Diploma/Certificate in Culinary/Food Service Management, Art or Skills, or other relevant field with related experience.
- Expertise in food service management (budgeting, inventory, procurement, waste mitigation, recommended staffing levels, and daily operating procedures, etc.).
- Experience in development of standard operating procedures (for a food service environment) and menus, as well as training and supporting staff in a food service environment.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, Canada’s Food Guide, addressing the social determinants of health and equity
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders using a variety of methods and build strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Understanding of system-level approaches to effecting change and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
