Plant Manager

Reporting to the SVP and General Manager, the role is to manage the people, systems, processes, and equipment within the business unit such that maximum output and quality are achieved in a safe, pro-Employee environment.
**Responsibilities**:
**Job duties include but are not limited to the following**:
- Manage the operations of our Kitchener plant, which includes developing and implementing plans to efficiently use materials, labour and equipment to meet production targets
- Provide leadership and direction to the Operations, Materials, Process Improvement and Quality departments
- Oversee production schedule and the allocation of material, manpower and equipment resources within the facility, while ensuring operational budget is adhered to
- Maintain Strong mechanical and electrical understanding of the equipment throughout the facility to predict failures, coordinate improvements and engineer new solutions; plan and implement repairs to machinery and equipment, including replacement
- Liase and lead cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, HR, Engineering and Maintenance
- Responsible for hiring, supervising and training staff, including conducting regular performance reviews and coaching where appropriate
- Communicates with and coaches all Supervisors and Employees to ensure compliance with all plant, and Occupational Health and Safety policies
- Implement plant process and efficiency improvements by developing strategy, gathering resources, making decisions and taking action
- Ensure operations are in accordance with lean manufacturing principles, and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving the process and the work environment
- Track and address recurring process, system and human resource issues and work toward viable solutions
- Serve as a resource for Employees. Communicate company policy, decisions, and change positively and directly
- Audit and administer the constructive discipline system with fairness and consistency
- Attend daily production board meetings to communicate and problem-solve plant issues
- Liaise with other departments to ensure that Operations are functioning effectively and efficiently
- Coordinate monthly safety talks and audit daily Collision Walks
**Required Experience, Education, and Skills**:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- Minimum of ten years of operations management in a continuous manufacturing operation
- Minimum of five years senior management experience in a Rubber Mixing facility
- Minimum of three years senior management experience in a Rubber Extrusion facility
- Master Blackbelt with extensive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience including six sigma tools (value stream mapping, KANBAN, cost reduction, Kaizen, Taguchi Experiment and DOE).
- Experience developing and optimizing rubber moulds and dies
