Manufacturing Quality Assurance Technician
A well-established horticultural and agricultural growing media manufacturing company is searching for a **QA/QC Technician** to join their team in the Niagara Region. You have a HANDS-ON approach to researching, analyzing and conducting experiments to improve current methods and products and in the development of new products. The company’s products are based on polyurethanes and biopolymers in combination with natural materials.
**Responsibilities**:
- Evaluate raw materials and conduct experiments to reformulate current and new base materials used in the various manufacturing processes
- Document experiments done with extensive notes and / or pictures
- Work with the production supervisor to optimize formulations and documentation of production
- Update daily/weekly activity logbook, lab notebook, test plans, materials/ methods/ results documents.
- Lead Soil Mixing Line (Blue Line); pre-mix the soil mixes which are used on the finished goods lines on the soil mixing line.
- Develop recipe book; log formulas into the soil mixing machine and in Excel.
- Maintain other records as necessary.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
- Conduct other R&D and manage QA projects as products develop.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of the literature and other sources of information to remain current with developments in the area of functional products of interest to the corporation.
- Develop / change test methods as necessary.
- Develop and manage QC protocols for manufacturing.
- Assist with training and procedures for other lines as needed.
- Assist with production and other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Agricultural soil management along with 3-7 years’ experience researching, testing and experimenting with bio-polymer and / or urethane materials required
- Familiarity and prior experience within a manufacturing environment is an absolute must - this role involves Biology (Food and plants), Chemistry research, and development.
- Excellent mathematical aptitude to compute probability; statistics; algebraic equations,; data graphing; fractions; percentages; ratios; proportions and slopes.
- Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagram or schedule form instructions.
- Strong time management, prioritizing and problem-solving skills.
- Solid independent judgment and reasoning skills.
- Proficiency writing & maintaining routine reports and logs.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills - ability to work/collaborate with team members.

**Wage: $**25-$30 per hour dependent on experience**
**Salary**: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
