Position Overview*
We are looking for a seasoned lender with superb loan underwriting skills to join our team as Retail Credit Specialist. The Retail Credit Specialist contributes to service excellence to G&F’s members by leading and directing retail credit operations and assisting in its ongoing development. The incumbent collaborates with department and branch employees to provide leadership and coaching to ensure efficient and effective credit operations in an ongoing effort to providing an overall positive member experience.

Accountabilities: *
- Provides advice and guidance on large, complex loans or other retail credit issues, and provides technical direction as required.
- Monitors processing and loan underwriting methods to ensure quality, delinquency control, overdrafts, policy and documentation requirements and requirements set out by regulators & auditors are satisfied.
- Coordinates the dissemination of loan policies and procedures; ensures employees follow loan underwriting policies and any policy deviations are corrected.
- Oversees, coordinates preparation of and verifies a variety of reports; oversees monthly audits and conducts random reviews of retail credit files.
- Manages the credit process to meet quality and target turnaround timelines as well as manage accurate and timely risk assessments of existing loans. Assesses credit practices for evolving needs and recommends policy and procedure improvements to support productivity and efficiency.
- Collaborates with branches and partner departments on a variety of initiatives such as campaigns, projects and training programs.
- Provides mentorship to branch employees on credit-related topics.

Requirements: *
- Post-secondary business degree or diploma
- Minimum 6 years’ progressive experience in a wide variety of retail lending including construction and equity loans as well as commercial loans
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with deposits
- Ability to read and analyze various financial statements and ratios from a lender’s perspective; ability to measure an organization’s profitability, solvency, stability and liquidity
- Ability to determine creditworthiness (business and personal) for short-and long-term debt repayment
- Proactive and collaborative approach
- Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate
