**Your Opportunity**:
In partnership with Gleichen RCMP and under the direction of the Manager and Clinical Supervisor of Rural South Addiction and Mental Health, the Mental Health Clinician is a member of a multidisciplinary team and has the exciting opportunity to provide specialized Addiction and Mental Health assessment, intervention and consultation services to a diverse service region. The Clinician will work in tandem with the RCMP and respond to situations of mental health and psycho-social crises where the individual is committing person, property, and social disorder offenses or requires police and crisis team support. The team will attend to community crises that involve public safety concerns and mental health and addiction issues, with the goal of diverting individuals from the justice system and hospital emergency departments. Assessment and stabilization within the community and connecting individuals to resources are key components of this role. Clinicians are responsible for providing assessments, interventions, referrals, and advocacy. Clinically focused liaison and consultation to colleagues within health services and with community service providers throughout the service region is also required. Clinicians are required to have awareness and sensitivity to working with diverse populations. rPACT Clinicians must be able to provide service to the hard to serve population who suffer from severe mental illness and face multiple problems in the community including homelessness; social isolation; marginalization and often encounter significant barriers to accessing mental health and medical services. Good interpersonal skills, flexibility, and an ability to work independently are essential. A good working knowledge of community agencies and programs is an asset. A high degree of professionalism is required.

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

**Required Qualifications**:

Psychologists: Completion of bachelor's degree in Psychology and active (or eligible registration) with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses: Completion of an accredited Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing education program and active (or eligible registration) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Social Workers: Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work and active (or eligible registration) with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW).

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Education: Registered Nurse (BN, MN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (BPN, MPN), Registered Social Worker (BSW, MSW), Registered Psychologist (M.Ed, MA, MPsyc). Minimum 3 years of relevant mental health experience. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). A minimum of 2 years direct crisis experience, preferably in a community setting. Formal clinical training and experience in triage, risk assessment, intervention, stabilization and case management skills, preferably in a community setting. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments.
