**About the Role**

Bethany is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Maintenance Worker to join our team at Riverview Village site. Under the leadership of the Maintenance Supervisor and as part of a team of rotating operators, this position is responsible for ensuring the facility’s physical site is properly maintained in a safe, clean and sanitary condition, including ensuring that all utility, electrical, and mechanical systems are fully operational. The Maintenance Worker position will also provide support, as required in order to foster a safe and secure environment for all residents.

**What You Will Do**
- Regularly inspect the interior and exterior of the facilities to locate deficiencies and repairs in accordance with established preventative maintenance schedule.
- Repair and maintain hardware, fixtures, furnishings, carpet, and flooring as required.
- Ensure that work requisitions are completed in a timely and cost effective manner while ensuring quality workmanship.
- Ensure that all outdoor greenspace is maintained, including shrubs, trees, flower beds, and lawns.
- Maintain sidewalks, parking areas and roads by removing snow, salting, and sanding during winter months. Arranges contracts for major snow removal if necessary.
- Respond to emergency situations such as fire, power outage, or water damage in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Respond to routine inquiries from residents and families regarding facility maintenance issues.
- Assist with general maintenance requests and moves furniture as required.
- Perform minor plumbing and equipment repairs.
- Identify and evaluate equipment replacement requirements.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
- Record and monitors all ABSA boiler logs and ensures compliancy with ABSA codes and regulations.

**Availability**

The position requires availability to take part in the on-call rotation, during which afterhours emergency calls are to be responded to. The position requires availability to assist at other sites as work levels necessitate. The position requires availability to cover other sites for absences, including vacations, illness or other absences. The position requires a reliable vehicle to travel for on call duties and to other sites as required; vehicle usage is reimbursed in accordance with established policies.

**What You Will Bring**
- Secondary School Diploma or recognized equivalent
- Working knowledge of fire codes, building codes, and general safety regulations is required
- Minimum of 1 year maintenance experience
- Experience in a hospital or large facility environment is considered an asset
- Experience prepping and painting walls
- Ability to take direction, and constructive criticism and make improvements if needed
- Ability to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment
- Demonstrated acceptable level of reading, writing, and comprehension of English language skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Access to a reliable vehicle to travel for on call duties and to other sites as required; vehicle usage will be reimbursed in accordance with established policies
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize workload
