The Opportunity
To independently review and assess funded RFA originated and acquired residential mortgage loans, for quality of underwriting and credit decisions, including adequacy of documentation; compliance to regulatory requirements, policies and or guidelines; reasonableness of underwriting and credit decisions; and comprehensiveness of due diligence. Document and circulate findings that assist in identifying themes and opportunities for staff coaching, policy clarification, fraud mitigation and improving consistency and overall quality of the RFA Bank of Canada mortgage portfolio.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Contribute to the success of RFA Bank’s quality assurance program through detailed file review and assessment of the underwriting decision consistent with the requirements of the Residential Mortgage Underwriting Policy (RMUP), guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out objective file reviews, testing for policy adherence, including discharge of due diligence requirements relevant to the loan, accuracy of information and completeness of documentation, as well as identifying whether expectations and or variances are appropriately identified.
- Continuously monitor and provide consistent individual training to quality control and underwriting staff on policy adherence, file solutions, fraud prevention, market risks and decision-making activity
- Carry out secondary reviews as required to support peers and overall audit quality, with a specific focus on eliminating erroneous findings.
- Support and analyze results monthly to identify training opportunities for the quality control and underwriting staff, trends, and risks.
- File an UTR/escalate to AML for elements in any file where perceived misrepresentation appears, or unusual activity cannot be reasonably explained.
- Prepare files selected for external audit to eliminate duplication of documents, increase clarity, and make the audit process as convenient and time efficient as possible for external partners.
- Conduct detailed file reviews on contentious loans to determine loss severity. Continuously monitor the portfolio for trends and/or anything deemed to pose undue risk to the company.
- Be a contributing member of the team, working co-operatively with others to ensure the relevance and quality of work produced and ongoing value add to RFA.
- Use the systems, tools and techniques provided to carry out all activities, identifying when areas to improve exist and making meaningful recommendations.
- Proactively manage individual workload to ensure all activities are completed accurately and on time, supporting peers as required to ensure the overall deliverables for the team are achieved.

Regulatory & Compliance
- Complete all regulatory and compliance and risk management training.
- Comply with requirements as set by the Compliance function and external regulatory bodies.
- Act in accordance with the company’s Board-approved risk appetite and tolerance for risk.

**What you can bring to RFA**:

- 1+ years of Quality Assurance experience
- 3+ years of residential mortgage experience
- Post secondary degree or certification in a related discipline.
- Experience in regulatory environment.
- Proficient in Word, Advanced level Excel skills and knowledge of PC software tools in a Windows environment
