To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

- Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent, as determined by the Corporation,
- Knowledge and experience in caretaking and cleaning duties,
- Ability to perform minor tool and building repairs,
- Basic mechanical knowledge an asset,
- Good physical condition, able to do heavy lifting,
- Competency in computer operation,
- Good verbal and communication skills,
- Self-motivated.
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Maintains City’s Public Works Department and Outbuildings

a) Performs general cleaning duties inside the departments building’s:

- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming,
- Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste appropriately,
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas,
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces, including door handles and light switches,
- Keep inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when supplies are low,
- Notify supervisor of any maintenance issues or safety hazards,
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment as needed,
- Fill in for Engineering Custodian when on vacation/sick.

b) Performs maintenance and other duties such as, but not limited to:

- minor furniture repairs,
- replaces light bulbs,
- touch up painting,
- shovels snow from sidewalks & building entrances,
- minor building maintenance and plumbing repairs
- running errands (parts pick-up, internal mail delivery).

2. Works with mínimal supervision.

3. Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.

**Working Conditions**:
This position requires standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for extended periods of time. Custodians may be exposed to cleaning chemicals. May require working in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to adapt to changing priorities. Works forty (40) hours per week and overtime as required. Hours of work are 1:30pm - 10:00pm.

Salary rate is $17.19 - $17.72 per hour as per Schedule "A" of the collective agreement.
