**Position Summary**:
The English Tutoring Centre (ETC) at Centennial College is looking for a Pathway Advice for Student Success (PASS) Advisor who is responsible for meeting with and advising of upgrading options for those students who have written the diagnostic assessment and not met the admission requirements for their desired program. Additionally, the incumbent advises students who have written the assessment for placement purposes and are below the requisite score but have been admitted and are “off model route”. The incumbent is also responsible for follow up with students who have taken the virtual assessment and require advising for admission or placement.

The incumbent works with the ETC Manager, ETC Assistant and other stakeholders at the college, including the Chair of English, the Student Success Advisors, and the International Advisors to ensure that students receive the best and most up-to-date information and advice to enroll in the correct upgrading programs or choose the correct required courses in order to graduate from their programs on time.

**Responsibilities**:
**Advising Students**
- Explain test outcomes and where student displays challenges;
- Review control documents to determine alternate programs;
- Review and evaluate assessment scores on Accuplacer and writing sample to ensure placement is accurate;
- Upload and sort data on students who have written the English Accuplacer Assessment and scored below their program of interest’s admission standard;
- Contact students to make appointment as required to meet with Advisor;
- Develop and maintain a Microsoft Bookings calendar for student appointments;
- Collect and evaluate data on students who write the Accuplacer test;
- Support registration by sorting through student placement data to ensure student is registered in the correct course/stream (via CASS) and notified of these changes in a timely manner.

**Administering Policies**
- Ongoing communication with Admissions to ensure proper protocol;
- Continuous collaboration with English Chair and Coordinators, Foundations Coordinators, Co-op Office and Assessment Centre;
- Communicate with Success Advisors regarding off-model route status and study plan of students;
- Provide accurate and detailed comments and recommendations regarding advising session on Banner;
- Provide assessment score requirement advice to IEN coordinator and other program areas as requested;
- Process documentation pertaining to program registration;
- Make referrals to other college departments as necessary;
- Attend meetings as related to PASS advising.

**Participating in College-wide Events**
- Attend meetings and events related to the College such as Open House, Orientation, Start Smart, and HeadStart.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- 4-year degree or equivalent in English, Linguistics, Psychology, Education or other related fields;
- Minimum 3 years of experience advising students or clients - Experience working in a post-secondary institution an asset;
- Ontario TESL Certification (250 instructional hours, 30 hours of observation, and 20 hours of supervised practice teaching);
- Experience within an assessment or diagnostic testing centre strongly preferred;
- Strong aptitude for providing information effectively to a diverse population in multiple modalities;
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
- Demonstrated skills of analysis, evaluation and synthesis;
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- Strong technological skills with the ability to use multiple services and platforms on a daily basis;
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering presentations and/or workshops;
- Demonstrated relationship building skills to create comfortable environment for students/clients/College faculty and staff; ability to maintain confi
