**SUMMARY**:
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**These tasks are strictly an outline of essential duties & responsibilities; any other duties may also be assigned when required.**
- Assist in estimating the cost of materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects, using contract bids, quotations, drawings, and specifications.
- Assist with writing, formatting, and submitting formal proposals.
- Maintain optimum relationships with material suppliers and subcontractors and obtain price quotations for the relevant tender work.
- Perform project materials take-offs, ensuring they are done accurately and correctly, ready for hand-off to the estimator/project management team.
- Ensure subcontractors’ expectations are clearly laid out in quote requests.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors and vendors ensuring risk and liabilities are minimized.
- Compare & price drawing changes within the tender period, as well as tender vs final construction drawings.
- Maintain estimating database and filing system.
- Conduct productivity studies on active jobs to compare with estimated productivity.
- ACAD/Trimble HCE earthworks quantity takeoffs
- Support and communicate productivities and estimate expectations to construction team.
- Administrative support as needed.
- Complete other tasks as required by the Manager of Engineering.

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS**:

- Grade 12 Mathematics and English
- Adept with MS suite (Excel, Project, Word), Bluebeam Revu / Adobe
- Use computer spreadsheets and databases as well as estimating, take-off, and scheduling software
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Proposal writing & formatting knowledge is an asset
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Communication skills, verbal, written, and presentation
- Mathematical skills
- Ability to work on tight deadlines

**REQUIRED CERTIFICATES / QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Grade 12 diploma
- Estimating experience will be an asset
- General construction experience will be an asset
- B2W Estimate competency will be an asset
- Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Work overtime as required.

**PERFORMANCE REVIEW & OTHER COMMENTS**:

- Three (3) month probationary period.
- Annual performance review

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
