Full job description
We are currently seeking a Team Leader to join our Receiving department in our Edmonton Distribution Centre.
Job Type / Category
This is a full-time position with 8 hour shifts going from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday however there may be a few days where you might need to start earlier or stay later if needed.
Job Summary
- Oversee and participate in the receipt and distribution of all incoming and outgoing deliveries and verify against purchase orders.
- Comply with safe operating procedures, safekeeping of materials and property, security, and record-keeping.
- Maintain an orderly receiving area as well as the general maintenance of the Warehouse.
- Work closely with our purchasing department to ensure accurate records are current.
- Maintain efficient flow of product both into and out of the warehouse.
- Resolve complaints or concerns in a timely and diplomatic manner.
- Follow up on work and projects in order to measure progress and address issues immediately.
- Communicate and comply with company, department and safety program policies.
- Establish workable and efficient inventory systems and controls for all materials.
- Ensure inventory is always current
- Ensure safe working conditions and that all safety and health protocols are being followed.
- Properly store inventory according to established methods.
- Ensure timely communications and updates on daily issues.
- Complete all required reports and documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare documents for each shipment and ensure that incoming deliveries are complete with paperwork.
- Monitor the quality assurance of finished products and ensure delivery deadlines are met.

Leadership
- Ensure department is appropriately staffed through planning and scheduling
- Analyze work orders and monitor labor hours.
- Supervise and assist team members in daily departmental operations to meet established productivity goals.
- Monitor and improve the productivity of the department through leadership, motivation and team building.
- Be prepared to send hourly staff home when not needed or call in extra staff when busy.
- Encourage a culture that values safety, speed, and accuracy through training, supervision, coaching and performance management.
- Set achievable, measurable, and challenging goals for all associates.
- Be responsible for staff reviews.
- Train workers in duties and practices.
- Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
- Solution focused and comfortable working in an environment which demands robust deliverables. Identify problems and execute appropriate solutions.
- Comfortable with high volume workload with the ability to “roll up your sleeves” and jump in.
- High comfort level working in a fast-paced team environment that is constantly changing.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and follow through skills.
- Process information and product through computer systems accurately.
- Ability to manage receiving operations effectively.
- Maintain records and documentation pertaining to work force.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma/GED required
- Must have a good attendance record, be punctual and show up ready to work
- 3+ years’ experience in Warehousing.
- 1+ years’ experience as a Team Leader.
- Must be able to drive a forklift and have current forklift operator license
- Proficient in computer skills in Outlook and Excel along with basic computer skills.
- Have up to date first aid certification

**Working conditions**:

- Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 to 50 lbs.
- Repetitive movements and work. Standing for extended periods.
- Involves sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping on a regular basis.
- Walking near to heavy tool and moving machinery.
- Exposure to all types of weather conditions, and dirt, dust and noise.
