Resource Counsellor

**Job Title: Resource Counsellor (24/7)**

**Job Status: 35 hours a week (days, evenings, nights, weekends)**

**Rate of Pay: $25.66/ hour plus shift premiums where applicable**

**Reports To: Director of Risk Management & Compliance**

**Purpose**

The function of this position is to ensure the safety and well-being of clients in a residential capacity. This includes regular room checks, brief support as needed and reporting to authorities as required.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To work with a team to monitor risks of clients in residence.
- Review client observation binder at the start of each shift.
- Provide 3 room checks per shift (when working overnights) and report to alarm company after each check.
- Check in with the alarm company as required for safety checks.
- Contact the justice providers with any risk management concerns.
- Contact manager on-call with any reporting issues.
- Provide all pertinent information during shift change.
- Monitor access to medication for residents.
- Working in collaboration with community partners to support a plan of care is well-matched.
- Monitor implementation of action plans to ensure risk mitigation efforts are proceeding as required.
- Report all matters regarding risk to agency Director and/or CEO.
- Support of collaboration with police, courts, and community agencies.
- Other duties as assigned by direct Supervisor.
- Ability to provide some staff coverage outside of regular work hours if required

**Qualifications**
- Community College in Corrections or Social Services.
- Experience in working with adult men justice involved.
- Ability to be available for weekend and overnight shifts as scheduled.
- Previous or current residential employment is considered an asset.
- Experience working with men with complex health issues an asset.
- Proven track record in documentation of compliance.
- Exceptional documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work past shift time in emergencies.
- Professional boundaries in reference to working with high-risk individuals.
- Background in security would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of community resources for those in crisis.
- Criminal Record check.
