Production Supervisor

**Shift**: Night Shift 12 hour shift 6:00am - 6:00pm Fri to Sun
**Status**: Full-time
**Purpose**:
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Shift Supervisor will oversee and be responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe operation of the Production departments. The successful incumbent will also support and participate with the site Production Management Team to focus on continuously improving processes and efficiencies within the operation.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Ensure the plant operations are conducted in accordance with Health & Safety and Food Safety programs. Champion and enforce Health & Safety, proactive approach to prevent accidents in the plant.
- Take ownership of the Food Safety program for your operations. Work closely with the production staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMP's and other necessary quality-related training.
- Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the plant operations during your shift; this is a ‘hands-on’ position that directly supervises all shift staff, including training, coaching and corrective actions, and planning workloads / develop production schedules. Emphasis is on time spent on the floor directly supervising to meet organization goals.
- Work towards Process Excellence & Lean Manufacture endeavors of the organization.
- Responsible for employees' hours & updating Dayforce (time keeping) system.
- Maintain Production PM Programs, generate daily operating, shrinkage & efficiency reports as well as daily / weekly production maps.
- Validate all production records.
- Develop a co-operative team approach in the Production Department and work closely with Production Planners, Production Administration, Maintenance, Distribution, Quality Control and Plant Management.
- Provide flexible shift coverage & work overtime hours when required and weekend coverage on a rotational basis.
- Other projects as assigned by management.
**Qualifications & Competencies**:
- Minimum five (5) years of hands-on supervisory experience is an asset.
- Previous work experience in a food industry is considered an asset but not required
- Knowledge of GMPs, including excellent sanitary habits and possess knowledge of HACCP is not required but considered an asset
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Solid analytical skills with knowledge of process improvement techniques
- Accurate when working with calculations
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities on a daily basis.
- Must be comfortable to oversee 5-15 employee at any given time
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be flexible in terms of shift work and perform other duties as required
- Strong computer skills, including Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
