**Job Brief**

As part of the Quality Assurance (QA) department, the laboratory assistant’s primary responsibility is to support the QA Technician and QA Manager in ensuring that all products conform to the highest quality and consistency standards. The quality assurance department conducts chemical and biological tests including, but not limited to: pH and Plato monitoring, alcohol measurement, total acidity, color, bitterness, dissolved oxygen, cell counting, microbiological identification, aseptic isolation of bacteria and yeast, yeast propagation, and PCR for spoilage organisms. The laboratory assistant will support the department by obtaining and preparing samples, and performing various quality testing methods on beers and RTDs.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- ** Quality control of Beer and RTDs**, which includes but is not limited to:

- Quality control sampling and measurement (measurement of plato, density, and pH)
- Alcohol content sampling and measurement
- Measurement of TPO
- **Assist with the microbiological analysis of beer and RTDs,** which includes, but is not limited to:

- Pouring agar plates
- Making incubation broth
- Aseptic sampling
- Cell counting
- **Assist with lab operations**, which includes:

- Collecting samples as requested
- Maintaining a clean and tidy lab
- Scanning and printing
- Data entry

**Communication**
- Maintaining open & positive relationships with all departments
- Open communication with Quality Assurance Manager and all departments
- Report all quality issues or deficiencies to the QA Manager
- Perform all other duties as required or assigned.

**Qualifications**
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent required;
- College or University level biology and chemistry science courses are considered an asset;
- Previous experience in the food or beverage industry is considered an asset;
- Previous laboratory experience is considered an asset;
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines;
