Position Overview:
As one of Canada’s largest Restaurant Equipment Suppliers, United Trimen is looking for a _Commercial CAD Designer/Operator_ to support the maintenance and growth of both our Multi Unit Chain Restaurant business, and our Independent Street Business Customers. Based at our United Trimen Ontario (North York) office, this position will report into the Sales Manager.
This position requires effective and cohesive coordination of all activities within their assigned design/engineering department. Responsibilities will include but not limited to; work with the autocad technicians, designers and
engineers ensuring all timelines are met, ensuring the needs of the production staff are fulfilled, and that customer demands are satisfied.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take on all delegated tasks to completion in a timely manner- Ability to disseminate information and create drawings for client review- Manage all aspects of customer service,as well as direct external customers; clients, GC’s, architects, engineers etc.- Complete designs and engineering tasks as required- Customer deadlines are paramount - work in a fast paced environment- Create layouts for food service environments for single components through to complete facilities- Be able to design in 2D as well as 3D, plan/elevations/cross sections/isometric- Create presentation quality drawings, renderings, “walk-throughs”- Plan, schedule, monitor, control, review and evaluate all activities associated with their assigned projects- Provide design & engineering expertise, technical assistance and operational support to all departments- Partner with production department and fabricating lead hands to ensure effective production- Maintain drawings and nesting database- Maintain overall design system database and archives- Be active in constant improvement of systems, programs and techniques to keep us a leader in the industry- Other duties as assigned by the General Manager
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A Degree or Diploma in design/engineering from a recognized educational institution is beneficial, or commensurate work experience- 1-3 years of experience in commercial design/fabrication environment and various industry programs - Autodesk (AUTOCAD/INVENTOR/REVIT etc.), employees must be able to take design projects from start to finish.- Strong knowledge of the food service industry with respect to facility planning, food service equipment and related drawing sets (POC’s, shop drawings, elevations etc.) is required- Prior experience with metal cutting, forming, welding and machining- Experience working with a variety of computer programs; Pro-Engineer, Solidworks, Auto CAD, Revit, Pro Nest, and other industry design programs etc.)- Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and motivational initiatives- Ability to work independently or as part of a team- Ability to prioritize workload and meet or exceed timelines- Strong ability to work with all levels within the organization as well as with customers and vendors.- Proficiency with Gmail and the entire Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
