We have an excellent opportunity to join one of Waterloo Region’s top employers as a Property & Casualty Review Underwriter in our Underwriting Programs department. With this exciting position, you will conduct reinsurance audits on all lines of business and be challenged to think outside the box in the development of underwriting guidance solutions. You will take initiative to provide recommendations, build relationships, and conduct research to develop best practice underwriting guidelines. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

**The Role**:
The P&C Review Underwriter is responsible for conducting reinsurance underwriting audits remotely &/or on-site, using an established review method, examining a pre-determined number of policies. They report on significant findings, assist to identify trends, and make recommendations on best practice underwriting practices. They also support the creation and delivery of best practice underwriting guidelines to support Members’ primary underwriting strategies to enable membership growth and profitability.
- Conduct reinsurance underwriting audits in a timely, efficient, and objective manner.
- Support the creation of best practice underwriting guides.
- Support the analysis of root causes, patterns, or trends to assist with the development of underwriting resources.
- Within business context, show initiative to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
- Facilitate training sessions on selected underwriting topics to our Membership
- Update spreadsheets accurately, maintaining the integrity of the information data source.

**Your Skills and Qualifications**:

- Strong technical knowledge having five (5) or more years of P&C underwriting experience.
- A college diploma or an equivalent level of education is required, preferably in business or a related discipline.
- Completion of or working towards a professional certification such as the CIP/FCIP.
- Proven success and solid ability to conduct underwriting audits for different lines of business including residential, farm, and commercial.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with the ability to take initiative in an unstructured environment, exercise independent judgement,, function with mínimal supervision, and influence positive change.
- Excellent organizational, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and projects.
- Think strategically and demonstrate a complement of product, pricing, and underwriting knowledge in decision making & problem-solving.
- Strong ability to develop positive working relationships with peers, project members, and member company contacts.
