As a member of the Operations team, the Yard Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be based out of the North Vancouver Head Office. The Yard Manager is responsible for supporting the optimal functioning of day-to-day yard operations to ensure that projects are executed on time and within budget.
This position will support project mobilization, demobilization and shop fabrication activities. This includes working with project and group leads to optimize resources and equipment with a thorough understanding of the day-to-day yard operations and the methods required to complete the work.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Demonstrate leadership in Health and Safety, Environment and Quality programs. Effectively applies the requirements of applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Acts, Regulations and Codes.
- Perform a key role in Emergency Response planning, exercises, and inspections.
- Ensure all members of the team are trained and competent to perform all tasks and work with the Operations Manager and HSEQ department to recommend and schedule all training and orientations for the field.
- Coordinate the shipping and receiving of project materials in compliance with the project quality program or equivalent.
- Responsible to order parts and materials required for the execution of the Work in accordance with current VANPILE Purchasing Procedures and Protocols.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to determine project priorities, scope of work, manpower planning, overtime requirements and progress of existing projects. Communicate these requirements to the Yard supervisors and monitor progress.
- Work with the Operations Manager on vacation scheduling of employees on the team, ensuring sufficient coverage for the work to be completed.
- Effectively maintain all Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) forms, welder certificates and welding procedures required for maintenance of VANPILE’s CWB W47.1, W47.2 and W186 certifications.
- Participate in the development and revisions to VANPILE CWB W47.1 and W47.2 procedures.
- Attend Yard meetings, collaborating with the yard supervisors regarding project planning and execution.
- Participate in weekly coordination meetings to provide feedback and assist the organization in resource planning.
- Participate in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates on mobilization and fabrication progression.
- Maintain a thorough daily reports that accurately tracks yard activities, events, inspections, and other relevant information.
- Perform other related duties to support the yard operations.
- Coordinate with Projects and Payroll to verify timesheet accuracy.
- Support the bidding process by providing input and knowledge on resourcing, methodology and equipment.
- Represent VANPILE to the public in a manner consistent with the company values and goals
- oversee the dispatching of personnel staff

**Qualifications, Experience and Skill Set**:

- Trade certification or diploma for technical training in an industry-related program
- 5+ years of experience in the marine construction industry
- Hold, or be eligible for certification as a CWB Welding Supervisor for both W47.1 Fusion Welding of Steel and W47.2 Fusion Welding of Aluminum.
- Hold, or be eligible for certification as a CWB Level 1 Inspector for both W47.1 and W47.2.
- Working knowledge of construction documents, contracts, costs and budgets.
- Working knowledge of scheduling and project management
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
- Hold a valid Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 3 First Aid Certificate (company supplied).
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple stakeholders, interpret stakeholders needs and identify solutions.
- Skilled at promoting teamwork with project teams and stakeholders
- Experience with dispatching personnel staff
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project)
- Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
