POSITION TITLE: Buyer
PAY RANGE: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 depending on experience.
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing (310)
REPORTS TO: Sr. Director Procurement
LOCATION**: On-site, Kitchener, ON
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigates and develops sources of supply, whether for new scope or new Suppliers
- Develops and maintains supplier relationships.
- Owns the relationship of key supplier/commodity pairs.
- Initiates, negotiates, and maintains Supplier Long Term Agreements and Contracts.
- Responsible for ongoing cost reduction (total cost of acquisition) goals
- Issues and analyses RFQs, RFIs, RFPs
- Evaluates the best source and negotiates terms and conditions of orders in accordance with Colt Canada policies, procedures, and related regulations.
- Issues and maintains purchase orders.
- Follow-up with vendors, suppliers, and internal Colt Canada customers, resolving outstanding issues as required.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned by department manager or designate.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
- Maintenance of secure and confidential company information
- Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures,
- Meet service standards and expectations for internal and external customers
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a buyer, preferably in an ISO certified OEM
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in a metal fabrication environment
- Understanding of supply chain management principles
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
