**HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN**

Working as a team player, you are a self-motivated individual with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to others. You are responsible to install, service, and maintain equipment to regulatory standards.

You interpret and prepare drawings, coordinate and perform installation and service work to parts and components, communicate with suppliers and vendors, and recordkeep. You inspect mechanical and structural components of ramp hoist systems and maintain, repair and replace associated rigging and hoisting gear, hydraulic components, and inspection documentation. You plan repairs while estimating time, travel and labour require to perform the work. You maintain and repair tools and equipment, rebuilding hoist blocks and maintaining vehicles. Additionally you ensure adequate inventory and stock of essential components in alignment with material management protocols and procedures. You analyze equipment failures to define root cause, using appropriate troubleshooting techniques, test equipment and tools for hydraulic, electrical, and control circuits. You perform additional duties including attending meetings, training courses, travelling to work sites and operating equiment.

You are knowledgeable in Worksafe BC regulations and safe working practices, and have a good working knowledge of relevant materials and tools. You hold a valid BC or Inter-Provincial trades Qualification in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, and a current valid BC Driver’s license Class 3 with air endorsement (class 1 with air endorsement preferred).

Minimum 3 to 5 years recent Journeyman experience, and a background of combined education, training, self-study, employment or other experience sufficient to demonstrate the requirements of the job.
