**About the Role**

As Head of P&C Treaty Underwriting, Canada and English Caribbean, you will be responsible for producing profitable P&C treaty business. You will work closely with cross-functional origination teams and you will provide leadership to your team, ensuring a high quality of underwriting, steering value determination and innovative product development. You will be a member of the North America Property & Casualty Leadership teams and the Canadian Executive team.

Your leadership responsibilities
- Develop and execute Property and Casualty treaty strategies for the Canadian and English Caribbean market, Swiss Re portfolio and clients - in close collaboration with the Client Markets team
- Lead and develop a team of Property & Casualty treaty underwriters to provide high-quality underwriting services and differentiated solutions to best serve our client's needs
- Represent and position Swiss Re as a strong P&C player in Canada and English Caribbean segment and interact regularly with key external stakeholders (clients, brokers, regulators, associations); embody strong market visibility
- Build and foster a collaborative team spirit, shape a culture of consultative sales, innovative solution creation and smart business origination
- Together with Client Markets, ensure that Swiss Re's technical capabilities and value added services are leveraged sensibly
- Lead organization through all aspects of change management working towards our strategy
- Monitor closely the portfolio's performance against targets, analyze trends, draw conclusions, initiate proper portfolio actions, and monitors execution of these actions

Your underwriting responsibilities
- Develop new ideas and innovative products and support product development initiatives which address client's needs with a focus on large transactions and primary solutions development
- Promote deliberate costing adequacy and proper underwriting judgment without compromising alignment with Swiss Re's risk appetite and guideline compliance; ensure appropriate costing approach relative to associated risks
- Identify and monitor Property (re-)insurance market trends, risk landscape and regulatory developments that may affect Swiss Re's Property business
- Contribute towards the drafting of local underwriting guidelines and renewal messages
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and manage the process of risk analysis, structuring and capacity deployment
- Provide support to ensure an appropriate usage of reporting and underwriting tools, and support Client Markets in respect of product related issues
- Align underwriting related business processes and corresponding reporting needs with Group measures
- Effectively and efficiently manage large transactions, delivery of solutions and projects to ensure the desired return on investment within the given constraints of time, cost, scope, and quality

Your client services responsibilities
- Establish strong relationships with clients, and bring client focused thinking to cross-functional teams
- Provide product support and services to clients in collaboration with Client Markets team, aligned with client buying segmentation

Planning and Controlling/ Risk Management/Operations
- Assume full responsibility for the underwriting contributions to the annual business planning process for your property treaty portfolio and monitor the business accordingly.
- Provide input to, and manage feedback from Reserving, RM and CLM with a focus on feedback loops and identification of trends
- Ensure ORM compliance and contribute to the ORM process for underwriting activities
- Manage costs for your assigned staff efficiently relative to budget

Training and Development
- Responsible for Performance Management and career development of your staff
- Recruit, train, and nurture superior underwriting talent

**About the Team**

You will closely collaborate with all relevant internal functions such as Canadian client managers, P&C Structured Solutions team, Business Development, Business Management, Solutions, Cat Perils and other experts passionate about meeting client expectations.

**About You**
- Minimum of 10 years of insurance and reinsurance experience
- Strong foundation in Property and/or Casualty (re-) insurance underwriting and actuarial pricing
- Relevant experiences in any other (re-) insurance function or even any other industry and Canadian (re-)insurance market would be advantageous
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Proven track record in strategy development successful execution paired with the ability to translate strategic objectives into practical action plans and to balance big-picture concerns with day-to-day activities
- Demonstrated confidence in engaging courageously, challenging constructively and voicing opinions to find solutions, which highly satisfies clients and other stakeholders
