Custodial Instructor

HT Hospitality Training Inc. is a small business in Ottawa, ON. HT offers virtual training and practical training including entry-level job placement in the building maintenance industry to job seekers in the greater Ottawa area. Our project is aimed at relieving the labour shortages of custodial workers, janitorial staff, cleaners and housekeepers with short term training linked to employment in the building maintenance industry. Our programs are funded by the Provincial Government through the Skills Development Funding (SDF) program. Our students may face barriers to employment.

**Overview**

HT Hospitality Training Inc. (HT) offers virtual training and practical training including entry-level job placement in the building maintenance industry to job seekers in the greater Ottawa area. Our project is aimed at relieving the labour shortages of custodial workers, janitorial staff, cleaners and housekeepers with short term training linked to employment in the building maintenance industry.

Our programs are funded by the Provincial Government through the Skills Development Funding (SDF) program. Our students may face barriers to employment.

HT needs an adult education custodial services instructor as a guide using the online platform and the practical hands-on training outlined in the ISSA-CMI Certified Custodial Technician Basic - Best Practices & Current Standards.

**Specific Duties of Custodial Instructor**
- Teach the Custodial curriculum via an online platform.
- Monitor attendance and tardiness of students.
- Provide hands-on practical training to a group of 10-15 students.
- Monitor best practices for disinfecting.
- Monitor basic cleaning of above floor surfaces.
- Monitor basic cleaning of hard floor surfaces.
- Monitor basic cleaning of carpeted floor surfaces.
- Monitor basic cleaning of rest room and shower room.
- Maintain contact with HT staff to address any specific needs of students.

**Required Industry Certifications**
- _CMI _Custodial Technician Basic
- WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
- Fall Protection
- AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities)
- Health & Safety Awareness for Workers - OHSA
- Workplace Violence & Harassment - Worker Training
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-AED Level C, Adult, Child, Infant Certification

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Minimum of 5 years as a supervisor of building maintenance.
- Available to teach in the morning and afternoons.
- Ready to teach at another designated location in Ottawa Centre.
- Experience with ISSA-CMI cleaning standards or related experience.
- Knowledge of specialized equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Experience working with socially and culturally diverse students.
- Able to provide 2 employment references.
- Willing to complete ‘ _emerit_ Train the Trainer’.
- English language proficiency is required, other languages a desirable asset.**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months
Part-time hours: 20 per week
