The Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of therapeutic rehabilitation programs. The Therapy Assistant participates in assessment related activities as well as the planning and development of client programs which includes leading individual or group treatment and educational interventions. **Required Qualifications**:
A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Must have at a minimum a two-year Recreation Therapy Assistant diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution. Recent (in the last two years) experience in the care of community dwelling seniors with mental health and addictions diagnosis. Knowledge of recreation options. Understands how aging and/or physical/mental health conditions changes the way programs are presented and how they are accepted by patients. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work semi-independently in a day program setting with seniors with varying degrees in of cognitive/physical/mental health and medical disability. Ability to navigate computer scheduling and charting programs. Provision of physical care involving standing, walking and lifting. May include active participation in a variety of physical activities with patients-walking, swimming, bowling. CPR BLS Level C.
