**Salary**: $2,757.39- $3,604.17 bi-weekly ($71,967- $94,068 / year)

**Role Responsibilities**:
Forestry and Parks is on the lookout for a dynamic and highly motivated team player to join the Forest Tenure, Trade, and Economics Section. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the analysis of forest economics and market-related issues, with a particular focus on timber production and timber royalty data, forest industry operating data, timber supply and demand assessments, and strategic policy analysis. You will work closely with internal experts, the forest industry, forestry consultants, legal advisors, and other government organizations in data collection, interpretation, research, and analysis.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting in-depth timber production analyses and modeling to support economic impact studies, royalty policy development, trade litigation, and external data reporting efforts.
- Supporting the ongoing administration of Alberta’s timber dues system and leading efforts to update an annual Ministerial Order.
- Initiating and supporting strategic policy development from a forest economics and trade perspective.
- Drafting issues papers, engagement packages, and other policy development materials to support strategic and operational priorities.
- Analyzing and presenting proprietary data to support briefing materials and decision making.
- Issuing and managing financial and economic contractors, contract budgets, economic data procurement, and invoice/payment tracking (as required).

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirement**:
University graduation in a related field such as Business, Economics, Forestry, Forest Business Management plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

**Additional Requirements**:

- Demonstrate knowledge of trade agreements between Canada and other countries, with a particular focus on the U.S.
- Exhibit an understanding of Alberta’s fiscal framework, regulatory regime, and forest tenure system. Showcase a highly developed understanding of forest economic policies, trends, and emergent issues.**Assets**:

- Education or experience in timber production/timber scaling systems, financial/revenue systems, or operations management.
- Membership/eligibility as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Forest Technician (RPFT).
- Proficiency in relationship development, technical writing, data analysis, and information visualization.
- Working knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, and economic analysis frameworks.
- Experience in delivering reliable and accurate information in time-constrained environments.
- Experience in stakeholder relations, facilitation, and negotiation.
- Experience working with large datasets, databases, and analytical tools (ie. MS Excel, MS SQL Server). Experience with trade agreements or disputes.Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.

**Notes**:
This position is a permanent, full-time role, with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday. The incumbent may be requested to work overtime, evening and weekends due to the emergency nature of wildfires.
