The skilled laborer has the following specific areas of responsibility:
**a.** **Safety**

The skilled laborer must provide leadership that results in a safe work culture, is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew under his/her direction, and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the role.
- This includes:_
- Knowing and understanding the requirements of the OSHA
- Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the OHSA, and company safety policies and procedures
- Facilitate mandatory safety tool box meetings
- Ensuring completion of initial safety and hazard assessments
- Participating in safety/incident investigations
- Ensuring that vehicle and equipment checks are carried out

**B) Skilled Laborer Responsibilities**:

- Utilize a variety of hand and power tools
- Assist with the operation of heavy machinery
- Complete many different construction tasks, including drilling, painting, erecting or demolishing structures, and moving materials from one place to another. Paving stone and light landscape work.
- Hand digging, pipe laying and civil works
- Follow all local, provincial, and federal health and safety standards
- Commit to continually improving your skills through on-the-job training

**C.) Skilled Laborer Requirements**:

- High school diploma or similar
- Previous experience or beginning of any skilled apprenticeship
- Ability to use a wide variety of tools
- Capable of working well with mínimal supervision
- Willingness to learn and be part of a team
- Willingness to work overtime and out of town 25% of time

**Employee Relations**

The laborer must champion an inclusive employee relations culture, is accountable for the adherence to policies and procedures by the crew to ensure a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- This includes:_
- Recognizing, addressing, and resolving issues/problems among/between crew members
- Promoting, supporting, and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all crew members by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all crew members

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $18.00-$23.00 per hour

- 10 hour shift

- Sooke, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:
