**Geological Technician**
**Reporting to**:Project Geologist + Senior Geologist
**Job Purpose**:
The Geological Technicians’ primary role is to work with exploration geologists to collect, catalogue and interpret geologic data. Accurate and timely collection, documentation and presentation of geologic data is critical for the efficient execution and ongoing success of the Company’s Clients exploration programs.
**Job Overview**:
Operational Responsibilities- Assist in collecting geologic data on exploration projects by various means including but not limited to, prospecting, geologic mapping and/or other geology-based tasks as required by the Project Geologist.-
- Assisting geologists in QAQC program.-
- Assisting in organizing sample shipments.-
- Ensuring a safe, clean and effective worksite.-
- Performing work at the highest possible standard every day.-
- Executing the daily work plan as laid out by the Project Geologist.-
- And any other activities suitable to the geological technician skills and experience**Camp Responsibilities**:
- Managing and maintaining a sanitary, safe and organized camp to foster an environment that respects the well-being and health of all camp members.-
- Collaborating with camp members to share in the upkeep and daily chores of the camp including but not limited to: cooking, cleaning, collection of firewood and collection and filtering of water to achieve a cohesive living environment with a fair distribution of camp chores.-
- Maintaining and caring for all camp and GroundTruth field gear.-
- Ensuring all electronic tools for the job (ie, handheld devices and ICOM radios) are fully charged and ready for the work day each morning.**Safety Responsibilities**:
- Reporting all Hazards, Near Misses, Close Calls, Incidents, Injuries and Non-Conformances.-
- Adhering to all Safety Employee Rights and Responsibilities; including but not limited to, refusal of any unsafe work, whilst working towards a safe alternative.-
- Working competently, safely and professionally at all times: in the field, in camp and transit.-
- Participating in daily Safety Meetings as well as After Action Shift summaries, and all Emergency Response Plans (ERP).-
- Wearing and maintaining all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Working Conditions
The Geological Technician position requires the employee to work outside in various terrain and weather conditions. The weather conditions include but are not limited to; a temperature range of -20° C up to +35°C, very dry to very humid climate, heavy rainfall, wind and snow. Terrain can vary from rolling hills to steep mountain sides that will be traversed on foot. Work days in the field may range between 10 -12-hour shifts that run 7 days a week for the duration of the project unless otherwise stated. The project location may be reached by a variety of transportation methods such as; truck, helicopter, boat, fixed-wing aircraft or all-terrain vehicles. Every camp will be provided with a wall tent or tents of similar structure depending on location, satellite internet and all other camp elements.
Employees will be working and living in close quarters with the rest of their crew for the duration of the project. Communication outside of camp may be limited as there is no cellphone service, and the satellite internet is not high-speed. Exploration projects are frequently remote and isolated. It is important to recognize that transportation between the project and the city may take upwards of 10 hours.
Medical conditions that may be serious in nature such as but not limited to; severe allergies, breathing conditions, heart conditions, diabetes, epilepsy and others, are recommended to be disclosed to the Safety & Training Officer, Direct Supervisor and/or Director of Exploration. It is important that the company knows what kind of care is required in the event of an emergency as it may take 10 or more hours to transport a person in need of professional medical care from a project location to a health center.
**Lifting and Physical Requirements**:
This role requires a high degree of physical strength and stamina in order to perform the job responsibilities. Physical demands may include:

Employees will be required to supply appropriate personal gear including; a sleeping bag, work clothes and underlayers, appropriate head gear (for heat and cold), work gloves, full rain gear (jacket and pants), appropriate work boots with rigid ankle support and a Leatherman or similar multi-tool knife.
