**Speech and Language Pathologist**

**Purpose of Position**
- Working in cooperation with LDS staff, parents and students, the Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for children with diagnosed or suspected speech and language difficulties. Speech and Language service delivery at LDS includes one-to-one and small group instruction for both preschool and school aged children.**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services related to speech, language and communication needs for families and LDS staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development and individual student needs by providing relevant instruction according to the existing student documentation and educational best practices.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the therapy program.
- Provide informal and formal assessments (as appropriate), screen and evaluate students, and effectively share results with parents and LDS staff. Participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with Provincial requirements and best practice.
- Provide outreach and identification of new clients, helping LDS provide additional assistance to either existing or new clients within professional parameters.
- Participate in family intake meetings to evaluate the need for Speech and Language services (as appropriate).
- Develop and implement individual goals for students.
- Work collaboratively with LDS leadership team and staff to develop new SLP based programming and service delivery models.
- Comply with all insurance requirements for centre-based claiming, including obtaining written consent from parents of all students served and timely filing of claims that meet insurance standards (as applicable).
- Provide consultative and mentorship SLP services for LDS staff by sharing and demonstrating specific techniques and facilitating relevant and consistent interventions for targeted students.
- Participate in LDS workshops, webinars, professional development and training to enhance service delivery.
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships with LDS staff.
- Participate in various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies.
- Maintain records and information concerning individual students in the prescribed confidential manner.
- Implement and comply with provincial policies and procedures.
- Provide LDS learning resource identification and development.
- Keep detailed records of time allocated to students.

**Knowledge and Skills Required**
- Registered SLP with 2+ years of relevant professional experience
- Practitioner status on the Registry Autism Service Providers (RASP) list (preferred)
- Experience working with both preschool aged and school aged students
- Experience working with multiple disabilities/differences, including autism spectrum, ADD and ADHD, learning disabilities and developmental delays (preferred)
- Ability to evaluate students accurately and objectively
- Criminal record check with the vulnerable sector
- Eligibility to work in Canada

**Position Details**
- The position is ideally full-time, but part-time would be considered for the right applicant. Saturday mornings may be required. Some early evening hours are required for either position (3pm-7pm).
- Compensation range: $65,000-95,000 FTE annual salary dependent on education and experience or equivalent contract hourly rate ($100+/hr)
- Start date: ASAP

- Service delivery as appropriate in both LDS learning centres (East Vancouver and North Vancouver) and remotely
