The Stollery Children’s Hospital is the primary acute care centre for children in the Edmonton Area and referral center for the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network. All forms of pediatric specialized services and critical illness are managed at the Stollery with care provided by highly-skilled child health professionals from around the world making it well-recognized globally. Within the Stollery is the Pediatric Cardiology Clinic which specializes in the diagnosis and follow-up of children with congenital or acquired cardiac disease from birth to 18 years of age. The Pediatric Cardiology Echocardiology Lab is seeking an experienced and dynamic Diagnostic Sonographer I to join their team of professionals. The Diagnostic Sonographer (DS) I - Pediatric Cardiac position is responsible for performing Fetal and Pediatric Echocardiographic examinations. This individual play an integral role in the echocardiographic diagnostic process within the Stollery Cardiology Department. The position support supports clinics as the UAH/ Stollery site as well as the RAH site and Outreach clinics. The DS will be required to travel by air and/or ground transportation to work at outreach clinics that our Pediatric Cardiology program supports.

**Description**:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Successful completion of diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology course from an accredited institution is required.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Previous experience with Connect Care.
