Carpenter
The basic role of a Carpenter is generally to perform all types of construction work on the company’s projects as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Respond to emergencies on a 24-hour on call basis.
2. Perform the work required in construction trades and related activities.
3. Perform any other duties and assume any other responsibilities as required or assigned.
4. Protect the assets of the company and its customers.
5. Work in compliance with Staff Policies and Health and Safety Policies


Terms of Employment:
Permanent, Full Time, On Call, Overtime, Weekend, Day, Night, Evening.

**Education**:
Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training.

**Experience**:
3 - 5 years

Security and Safety:
Bondable, Criminal record check, driving record check.

Languages:
Speak English, Read, English, Write English

Reports to:
Project Manager/Estimator and the supervisor at the jobsite.

Major Work Area:
Construction, Maintenance / repair, Renovation, Historical Restoration.

Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience:
Commercial, Institutional, Industrial, Residential.

Transportation / Travel Information:
Must hold valid drivers license.

Work Location.
Various locations.

Own Tools/ Equipment:
steel-toed safety boots

Areas of Specialization
General carpentry, Rough carpentry

Specific Skills:
Determine specifications and calculate requirements. Measure accurately, cut, shape, assemble and follow scope of work. General knowledge of use of power tools. Able to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

Additional Skills:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers.

Essential Skills:
Reading text, document use, numeracy, writing, oral communication, working with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organization, significant use of memory, finding information, continuous learning.

Work Site Environment:
At heights, confined spaces, noisy, dusty, varying temperatures, indoors and outdoors.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job this individual must have a full range of body movement including walking, standing, sitting, lifting floor to waist, lifting waist to shoulder, stair climbing, ladder climbing and bending or twisting. There may be periods of chemical exposure and times when this individual will be operating motorized equipment and power tools.

**Salary**: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
