**General responsibilities**

The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager. He is responsible for the management of the maintenance department and personnel management. In collaboration with the planner, maintenance supervisor, engineers and production managers, he must ensure that the equipment of the organization is maintained and improved through investment projects and modifications. The incumbent also maintains links with the other plants in the division so that everyone can benefit from the expertise available.

**Challenges associated with the position**

The main challenge is to deliver a turnkey project that includes recommendations for updating the parts store preventive maintenance program and training program. All of this should be accomplished using a management system that makes it easy to view and consolidate production and maintenance requirements.

The St-Maurice plant is also considered a dynamic installation. The consequence is the maintenance department must simultaneously manage a large number of projects. These projects are particularly necessary to improve the safety, performance and reliability of equipment. The incumbent must therefore have expertise in several different areas.

**Nature and scope of position**:

- The maintenance manager is responsible for ensuring and optimizing the various plant equipment in a safe environment.
- He supervises a maintenance planner, supervisor and about twenty unionized maintenance employees.
- He prepares the annual maintenance budget taking into account the resources needed to meet anticipated needs. In addition, he collaborates to make funding requests for improvement projects.
- He must increase health and safety efforts in the factory.
- He coordinates and supervises all maintenance work carried out by subcontractors.
- As a member of the management committee, he participates in the establishment and achievement of QSSE (Quality-Health/Safety-Environment) objectives.
- He organizes his department in such a way as to achieve the established organizational objectives by improving the reliability of the equipment, by carrying out the projects within the established deadlines, by promoting health and safety at work as well as by respecting the environment of the factory.
- Must coordinate the work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with work costs, schedules and safety standards.
- In collaboration with the heads of production, planning and technical services, he must coordinate and prioritize engineering activities in accordance with the amounts allocated in the annual budget.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelors in an engineering discipline. Master's in engineering preferred
- 7 to 10 years of experience in process improvement management
- Experience working with a maintenance budget
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership role
- Solid knowledge of mechanical, industrial and process engineering
- Must be results driven, able to demonstrate and create a high performing work environment.
- Effectively manage multiple complex tasks and be able to work under pressure
