**Note**:_This position is based at the Loyola campus.**SCOPE**
Under the general direction of the Head, Vanier Library, and the supervision of the Public Services Supervisor, performs a variety of operational tasks associated with the circulation of library materials, which include providing general assistance to library users, stacks maintenance, mail, and performing tasks associated with physical and digital delivery of items to users and other libraries. Tasks are accomplished following established procedures and using several library systems/platforms. May work evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned and scheduled. Performs other duties as assigned.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- As assigned, provides frontline circulation services to users in person and/or via online communication according to a variety of established policies and procedures, as scheduled and as needed. May include any or all of:

- Answers user inquiries relating to materials, policies and services; refers/escalates as appropriate.
- Process loans of materials and/or technology, including creating or revising records as needed e.g. item and patron records,
- Assists with tasks related to overdue materials, special user requests, etc.
- Assists with basic use of public printers, audiovisual and computer equipment.
- Retrieves, sorts and processes Concordia Library material following established procedures for the purpose of physical and digital access for users or other libraries for all services provided by the unit, e.g., item requests, intercampus and network loans, interlibrary loans, scan & deliver, course reserves.
- Receives, checks in, sorts, and processes returning Concordia Library materials, and materials borrowed from other institutions for Concordia users, following established procedures.
- Participates in stacks maintenance activities as assigned such as sorting, shelving, shelf reading, shifting and other stacks related activities/projects. May be assigned to specific collections/areas.
- Scans portions of library print and microform materials for digital delivery using appropriate software/hardware, and uploads quality copies to various library systems in support of several services, e.g., scan & deliver, interlibrary loans, course reserves.
- Handles incoming and outgoing mail, as assigned. May include any or all of:

- Packs, unpacks, and sorts incoming and outgoing materials.
- Sorts and distributes interdepartmental mail.
- Provides input and feedback on establishing and improving procedures, and relays input and feedback from users.
- Collects and records routine statistics; assists with routine office clerical tasks.
- Promptly reports issues or problems according to established procedures for security incidents, building maintenance problems, system failures, equipment problems, etc.
- Assists with carrying out special projects and may participate in library committee work as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school diploma and (1) year of library experience or equivalent experience
- Good spoken English (Level 4). Basic written English (Level 3). Basic spoken French (Level 3), fluency is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to search for and interpret records in online library systems/platforms. Ability to locate, sort and shelve books according to Library of Congress Classification.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers in a team environment.
- Demonstrated aptitude for and interest in service-oriented work, and evidence of ability to handle routine queries and complaints with courtesy, tact, judgement, and discretion.
- Evidence of ability to learn new procedures and technologies.
- Evidence of ability to organize work and perform duties reliably, accurately, and efficiently with minimum supervision; ability to shift from one activity to another, and to cope with interruptions.
