Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Employment Supports, Job Coach - Summer Employment Transitions provides assistance to SET participants who have developmental disabilities looking for and then working within the community; offers a peer role-model relationship; develops a social rapport with the participant; promotes practices and conditions that ensure the health and safety of participants; and promotes Community Living Sarnia-Lambton to the community.

Qualifications Required:

- Experience working with people with disabilities, or other related human services experience is an asset.
- Previous experience in a coaching/ mentorship role.
- Aptitude to learn quickly and to work independently.
- Must be able to relate to participants in a professional and caring manner.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be willing to work hours according to the varying requirements of the job.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle every day.
- Good computer skills/experience is an asset.
- Aptitude with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other video conferencing programs is an asset.
- Public speaking experience is an asset.
- Positive attitude along with excellent teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of the community is an asset.
- Previous Sales/ Customer Service experience is an asset.
- Must be willing to make cold calls and meet with potential employers.

**Duties**:
Job Development
- Contact local employers and set up in-person meetings
- Represent Community Living Sarnia-Lambton and the SET program during promotional meetings
- Establish paid employment opportunities for participants with local employers

Participants
- Provide supervision and training for participants, under the supervision of the Coordinator of Employment Supports.
- Provide participants with optimum assistance and support to develop their full potential for work skills / work habits / socialization / age-appropriate behaviours.
- Demonstrate good work habits and appropriate social interaction.
- Encourage the development of a friendly, professional relationship between the participant and the job coach.
- Fulfil work duties alongside participant, acting as peer
- role model.
- Maintain open communication with the employer.
- Record/ document information as required.
- Remain on site with the participant for the duration of their work shift.
- Meet with the Supervisor on a regular basis.

Health and Safety
- Seek out employment opportunities that meet acceptable safety standards.
- Be aware of medical and physical conditions in participants that might create difficulties for those persons.
- Ensure that appropriate action is taken in the event of illness or injury to the participant.
- Report unsafe conditions and practices to the employer.

Public Relations
- Promotes Community Living Sarnia-Lambton to the community by representing the Association to employers, staff and parents and participating in fund raising activities.

This contract will run from May 27, 2024 to August 16, 2024 and will be for 35 hours a week.
